Therapy process
Therapy can be helpful for anyone seeking support in navigating life’s challenges, from individuals dealing with anxiety or depression to those experiencing relationship issues or struggling with addiction. If you’re unsure if therapy is right for you, it can be helpful to speak with one of our therapists who can provide guidance and support.
The length of therapy varies based on the individual’s needs and goals. Some people may only need a few sessions to address a specific concern, while others may benefit from ongoing support over a longer period of time. Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs and preferences.
Rise and Mind is dedicated to providing affirmative support and care to individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We recognize and affirm the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, and we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space where all individuals can feel seen, heard, and validated. Our goal is to help our clients explore their identities, navigate life’s challenges, and achieve their goals in a safe and supportive environment.
Rise and Mind is a virtual practice for now so all the sessions are conducted online on Zoom.
Yes, therapy is confidential, which means that your therapist will not share any information you discuss in therapy without your permission, except in situations where there is a legal or ethical obligation to do so (such as if you disclose plans to harm yourself or others).

During your first therapy session, you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals with your therapist. Your therapist may ask you questions to better understand your situation and to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs. It is normal to feel nervous or uncertain during your first session, but your therapist will work to create a safe and supportive environment.
The frequency of therapy sessions varies based on the individual’s needs and goals. Some people may benefit from bi-weekly or weekly sessions, while others may only need to attend therapy every few weeks. Your therapist will work with you to determine a schedule that is most effective for your needs.
You are welcome to bring a family member or friend to your therapy session if you feel that it would be helpful. However, it is important to ensure that the focus of the session remains on your needs and goals.
While some mental health concerns may be addressed with medication, not all clients require medication as part of their treatment plan. If medication is indicated, your therapist may refer you to a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment. Only a doctor (psychiatrist) with an M.B.B.S is authorised to prescribe medication.
A therapist is a mental health professional who specializes in providing talk therapy to help individuals work through emotional and behavioural challenges. A psychiatrist, on the other hand, is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. They can prescribe medication and may also provide therapy services, but their primary focus is on the medical management of mental health conditions.
Each session lasts for 45 minutes, however, the therapist may even take a few extra minutes, if s/he feels necessary.
